In order to develop an effective and well-rounded HR strategy, it is wise to consider the needs of your employees. This can affect how workplace policies are received, motivation, and workplace ethics. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs reveals basic needs, as well as a ranking of needs to help at your workplace.

The Hierarchy of Needs is as follows:

  1. Physiological Needs
  2. Security Needs
  3. "Belongingness" Needs
  4. Esteem Needs
  5. Self-Actualization Needs

This article, Motivation – Applying Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory, takes an in-depth look at all of the needs and how they can effectively be applied. Paying attention to your employees goes deeper than just making rules; it involves understanding and active listening. This will influence your company positively by meeting your employees needs, which will in turn meet your company's needs.
