Thoughts About Morality
TASA ID:
In life, one may come across a decision that they need to make that questions morality. One way may not be the best choice morally, but it may provide rewards in monetary or other desirable ways. The other, more moral way may not be as instantly desirable, but it may be the best choice overall because it is "the right thing to do".
Morality is not the doctrine of how we may make ourselves happy, but how we may make ourselves worthy of happiness.
~Immanuel Kant
What does it mean when someone says it is "the right thing to do"? This idea is about morality. The quote above mentions how morality does not necessarily only factor in our happiness, but a decision factors into how we are viewed by others now and in the future. If we conduct moral acts, we have a better chance of securing happiness for ourselves. Others' judgments will raise you up as a moral person, leading to returned happiness directly to you in the future.
