Why Did Adidas Wait So Long to Drop Kanye West?

"Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech… the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately," according to its October 25 news release. That statement conveys a principled and admirable stance against the antisemitism shown by the rapper formerly known as Kanye West after his anti-Semitic tweet on October 10 that he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”

Yet Adidas waited much, much longer than other companies that cut ties with Ye. Even Ye’s own talent agency dropped him before Adidas. In fact, Adidas delayed so long that Ye taunted them on his October 16 appearance on the Drink Champs podcast, saying, "I can say anti-Semitic things, and Adidas can't drop me. Now what? Now what?"

Leaders are sticking their heads into the sand of reality on Omicron. Unless they take needed steps, the results may be catastrophic for their nonprofits.

Omicron took over from Delta in the US in late December. The CDC warns that Omicron’s higher infectivity and ability to escape vaccines will overwhelm many hospitals in January.

Unfortunately, most organizations are not pivoting effectively to meet Omicron. From the start of the pandemic, many leaders insisted on a return to a “normal” office-centric culture. That’s despite the fact that a large majority of employees express a strong desire for a flexible hybrid or fully remote schedule.

The Backside of COVID-19, or What The World May Look Like After The Virus Peaks©

There is, we believe, a false expectation that after the virus peaks in a few weeks or days, that things will go back to normal.  That is most likely not the case.  In perhaps a year or longer, we should have a vaccine, which based upon our experiences with other viral vaccines may be partially effective against COVID-19 . Based upon the influenza vaccines, the effectiveness in preventing an infection is between 23% and 60% depending upon the virus and the vaccine. Essentially, entire countries will have to be immunized.  The alternative is that enough of us get the virus so that our society develops the “herd immunity.”  We also don’t know how effective or long-lasting that vaccine will be.  It is possible that the treatment could provide life-long immunity, but the prospects for that are, at this point, unknown, and probably very low- based upon the experience with influenza.

Life Care Planning For Spinal Cord Injuries

A spinal cord injury (SCI) is harm to the spinal cord which causes physical, physiological, and/or emotional changes in an individual. Each year, there are 17,500 new spinal cord injuries, in the United States, there are between 245,000 and 353,000 Americans living with a spinal cord injury. Most spinal cord injuries occur in people ages 16-30 years old. The leading causes of spinal cord injuries, in order of most common: motor vehicle accidents, followed by falls, violence, and sporting accidents.

The spinal cord is part of the Central Nervous System (CNS), which consists of the brain and spinal cord. The Central Nervous system is responsible for receiving, integrating, and responding to environmental information. In addition, the CNS keeps our hearts beating, our lungs breathing, as well as metabolic processes functioning (involuntary functions). The CNS executes all muscle movement needed for accomplishing activities of daily life, feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, transferring, and continence (voluntary function). 


Demystifying Airline Pilot Pay

Finally, an announcement is made by the flight crew that the plane has a mechanical issue and will require 30 more minutes to be repaired.
